Appearances and Upcoming Events
During the next year, I will be partnering with nonprofit organizations that serve needy children. Check in here frequently to learn where and when I’ll be appearing. If you can’t make the event in your area, I’ll post here the names of bookstores where you can purchase the book. A portion of the author profits from sales at that store will be donated to the organization. I am also available for school visits. Interested agencies and schools, please do not hesitate to contact me.
First stop on my charitable tour is the Children’s Health Council, March 15, 2010. This nonprofit agency’s mission is to make a measurable difference in the lives of children and families who face developmental, behavioral, emotional, and learning challenges. Wearing my psychologist’s hat, I’ve worked shoulder to shoulder with this agency for the past nine years, so I can personally attest to the extraordinary work they do, the high caliber of staff expertise, and the impact they make for children and families. My fundraising event will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at 650 Clark Way, Palo Alto, CA 94304. I look forward to seeing you there!
As the above paragraphs hit the Internet, I received an urgent email from a friend about the plight of one worthy non-profit. DrawBridge is an expressive arts program for homeless and vulnerable children. They go into homeless shelters and low-income facilities and put on art programs throughout the Bay Area, from Sonoma to Santa Cruz counties.
My friend wrote, “My fellow facilitators, volunteers and I have built relationships with these kids, who know that we will be there for them every week. They so look forward to their time with us, usually running into the room and into our arms. Unfortunately, however, the ‘Great Recession’ has hit all of us, and has been especially cruel to non-profit organizations and the most needy. DrawBridge has thrived for 20 years on grants and individual donations, but is now in a critical time. Literally, we need money to stay open . . .”
I’ve made a personal donation, and I hope to do fundraising for DrawBridge when Wyndano’s Cloak is released in March 2010. However, this wonderful organization may not survive past January. I hope that you will consider DrawBridge’s tough situation and donate now so they can keep their doors open. Here is the link to their website to learn more about DrawBridge, and to give online:
